ADOBE PHOTOSHOP VS ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR

Friday, June 13, 2014
Illustrator and Photoshop are usually most often used software in Graphics and web and many of us have a common question in mind and that’s what the use is, which is better and what’s difference between the two:
While both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator have many of common features but, they both are designed for a specific purpose. Photoshop helps you create a unique look using existing images, Illustrator helps you create your own brand-new images. Let’s discuss the differences between the two in detail
33 300x179 Adobe Photoshop vs Adobe IllustratorAdobe Photoshop, or simply Photoshop, is a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe Systems. It’s a computer pixel drawing program used mainly to create images that have complex texture and shading such as photographs and paintings, although created for image editing, the uses for Photoshop CS3 are unlimited It’s likely that nearly every picture you’ve seen (such as posters, book covers, magazine pictures, and brochures) has either been created or edited by Photoshop. Photoshop is better for photo retouch, photo manipulation, digital paintings, and photorealistic illustrations etc.
Adobe Illustrator is primary a vector graphic manipulation software. Its a program primarily used to create what is often called “outline art.” It is used to create images that are small in file size, but can be resized to any dimension while still maintaining print quality. Some common uses for Illustrator is for logos, illustrations, layouts for fliers, advertisements, billboards, signage, brochures, business cards, web design. With a vast array of templates that can help you get started and a number of different drawing tools, you can create your own unique graphics and artwork using Adobe Illustrator. CS5 was is the latest version and was released in April 2010.Illustrator CS5′s new features include a Perspective Grid tool, a Bristle Brush (for more natural and painterly looking strokes) and a comprehensive update to strokes
When choosing between Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, consideration should be given to the type of project that is being produced. If the work requires more of editing images then Adobe Photoshop suits the best while if the work relies on type or other vector-based artwork then Adobe Illustrator works best.
So, Both the software have their own use and purpose it mainly depends upon the knowledge you have Training from a good and a professional Institute will definitely matters a lot though there are hundreds of Institutes which promises to give hardcore training but all that promises are fake, there is hardly any Institute like ADMEC which not only promises but fulfills its promises by giving professional training and that too at advanced level.

How to Make your Mobile Screenshots Look Awesome

Saturday, May 24, 2014
It’s easy to capture screenshots on mobile devices but let’s do a quick recap. If you have an  iPhone, press the Home & Sleep buttons and the screenshot image will be saved instantly. On an Android device, press the Volume Down & Power button simultaneously to capture whatever is currently on your screen. And in the case of Windows Phone 8, press and hold the Start and Power buttons at the same time to take a screenshot.

That’s a raw screenshot saved in your camera roll but you also need to add the hardware frame around your screenshots so that the captured images appear more realistic and provides better context to the viewer.
Why is that important? A 768 pixels wide screenshot of a mobile app in portrait mode could have been captured on an Android device or an old iPad – now wrap that same image inside the Google Nexus frame and everyone is saved from playing a guessing game.

A layered photo editing tool like Adobe Photoshop makes it really easy for you to add hardware device frames to any screenshot image. Go to Dribbble and search for “freebies PSD <mobile name>” and you’ll find beautiful mockups for that mobile device.
Download and import the PSD file into Photoshop and then use the File -> Place command to place the screenshot image as a new layer over the mockup. Use the Save for Web option to export the screen capture in JPEG format.
[*] Dribbble users usually add the tag “freebies” or “free” to indicate that others can reuse their design(s) for personal and commercial use. Other than Dribbble, Deviant Art and Behance are also good places to discover high-quality mobile mockups.

If you aren’t well-versed in Photoshop, you can make use of a web app like PlaceIt that will automatically add device frames to your mobile screenshots.
The tool offers a collection of professional-quality photographs of mobile phones and tablets placed in realistic settings. You need to drag your screenshot image onto a photograph and it will automatically get placed in the screen area of the mobile device perfectly aligned with the hardware frame.
PlaceIt can handle screenshots of your iPhone, iPad, Nokia Lumia, Macbook, Microsoft Surface, iMac, Amazon Kindle, Samsung Galaxy and Google Nexus phones.

The Device Art Generator, available here and here, is provided by Google for anyone to quickly add device frames around screenshots of Android phones and tablets.
Drag the mobile screenshot image on to a device frame and it will quickly wrap that frame around your image. You also have the option to add screen glare and depth (for perspective) to the generated screenshots.
Device Art Generator includes templates for HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Google Nexus 10 devices.
MockuPhone is another useful web app for adding device frames to your mobile screenshots with a unique feature. You pick a device frame, upload the mobile screenshot image and the tool will generate multiple screenshot images of the same device but at different angles.
The tool produces very high-resolution screenshots and they offer device frames for the iPhone 5, iPad & iPad Mini, Google Nexus and Samsung Galaxy S4.

You can also add realistic device frames to your mobile screenshots via email. Just send the raw screenshot image as an email attachment to smartphones@mailchimp.com and, within in a minute or two, they will send you the processed screenshot with the device frame. You can also send multiple screenshots in the same message.
The service will automatically detects the mobile device name and the image orientation (portrait or landscape) using the EXIF data in the image and adds the appropriate hardware frame. It supports iPhone, iPad, Galaxy Tab, Nexus and a bunch of mobile device – send an email with the subject “help” to the same address for a complete list.

Quick Tip: The Correct Way to Create Curved Text

Thursday, May 22, 2014
Insignias and retro logos are popular and many of them have some sort of text along a curved path. Most people use the Text Warp tool but it ends up deforming the text. In this tutorial, you’ll learn why they look deformed and how you can properly create text along a curve without deforming the letters.

Why Curved Text Looks Deformed

Have a look at the two badges below – the one on the left was curved with the Warp Text tool while the other was created on a curved path. At first glance, they both look the same but look closely at the text and you can see that the left-image text is deformed (letters upper-half are enlarged).

Here’s another example with just plain text to better show how the text gets deformed.

Don’t use the Warp Text tool

First of all, never create curved text with the Warp Text tool. This tool can be found in the options bar when you have your Text tool selected and it can be quick and easy, but the results are amateur. The Warp Text tool should only be used for warping the shape of your text such as making it bulge, pinched, etc.

How to Create Text on a Curved Path

The proper way is to create a vector path then add your text to the path. We’ll show you how.

Step 1

First, select the Ellipse tool from your toolbar. You can pick any shape you like or use the Pen tool (P) to draw your own path that your text will follow. For our image, the Ellipse tool is the most suitable choice.

Step 2

In the options bar located below your Photoshop menu, click on the dropdown menu and select Path.

Draw a path on your document. You can hold the Shift key while dragging to get a perfect circle (or square/polygon if you are using another shape tool).

To reposition the path, switch to the Path Selection tool and drag the path.

Step 3

Next, switch to the Text tool (T) then click anywhere on the path. When you hover over the path, your cursor should change to a text cursor with a curved line across it.

Type in your text. If you want your text centered, remember to set it in the options bar.

Step 4

We have our text, but it’s not quite aligned. First, to position the text in the center, you can adjust the start and stop points. On the path, you’ll find two points. Switch to the Path Selection Tool then drag the point to reposition your text. Your cursor should change to a text cursor with two arrows. As you’re dragging, you can hold the Shift key if you want to position the points perfectly in the center.

Step 5It appears that our text path is too large and the text isn’t centered with the badge. To fix this, you can resize the path using the Transform tool. Press Ctrl/Cmd+T or go to Edit > Free Transform. While holding the Shift and Alt keys, drag the corner nodes of the transform box towards the center to scale the path. When you hold the Alt and Shift key, it forces your transformation to transform from the center and in the same aspect ratio. Press Enter to apply the changes

Our text is now in the center
.

Additional Text Settings

Here are more ways you can creatively create text along a path.

Flip Text Along a Path

With the Point Selection tool selected, simply drag the point towards the center of the shape to inverse the text.

Change Text Orientation

With the Text tool selected, click on the button in your options bar.

Note on the Badges

Do you like the badges shown in this tutorial? These amazing badges were designed by Zeppelin Graphics – purchase them on Creative Market.  And case you’re wondering, yes the text is created on a vector path (no warped text) :)..
All over.
