EasyBiz: Route Logger! - Plan the expenses for your next road trip

Thursday, May 22, 2014

At one point or another in your life, you’ve decided to venture on a road trip, a long one for that matter, and sometimes it’s really painful to discover after the fact that your trip expenses would have amounted to the same price as a train or plane ticket, or even less. There are ways to better plan a voyage and create a budget before the road trip even gets started. A simple solution is offered by the application  EasyBiz: Route Logger, that we’ll be testing today.

EasyBiz Mileage Tracker Good?? ?A good and practical idea?Nice design?Date and calucation precisionBad?? ?A few errors and lags?Only in one language?Hard to get used to at first

It doesn’t take much to explain  EasyBiz: Route Logger, it’s an application that calculates driving expenses. If you want to calculate the expenses at specific moment, simply tap on the start button located in the middle of the map, then press stop to see how much was spent on the voyage you have just completed.

Next to the Start button, you will find two small circles which allow you to adjust the settings. For example, select the left button for the cost for a liter of gasoline and then choose the gas price amount that you’ve used and currency you paid. To update the app, press save on the top right corner. The same goes for the settings.

There’s another menu at the bottom in light blue called 'Tracker History'. Here you can find route information that you have already calculated and it shows details such as the total number of miles, the number of trips and liters of fuel with price.

Something that I don’t quite understand was the presence of three buttons that all provide the same information. Perhaps one general button would have sufficed here.

You can also calculate a route manually and for this you simply tap on the highway symbol below the start button This opens a screen where you specify the start location by typing in the text bar and then choosing search. Then you do the same for end location.

After this, it prompts you to select a date, however this only works in theory, because I tried several times and it only worked when I picked the actual day, entering another date gave me an error message. Next, enter the fuel price and miles per gallon. You are able to name these routes and save for them to always have present  by your side so that costs don’t get out of control while driving. Data within the app can be exported to your cloud storage service.

I think the application is well structured and has a nice design, aside from the few mistakes I mentioned earlier in the text about the three buttons that provide the same information. There are some problems regarding the controls, but nothing that can’t be improved with a little work. They should also include support for other languages.

Searching runs quickly and accurately.  EasyBiz: Route Logger only lagged a few times during my test. I also had problems choosing dates. Otherwise it works smoothly.

Currently,  EasyBiz: Route Logger has dropped from 4.99 euros at 0.72 euros, This isn’t really a discount, since the pro and the free versions have been merged into a single app with all the features.

I like the idea behind  EasyBiz: Route Logger and it would really come in handy when deciding whether to drive or take a method of public transportation, or even carpooling! I think it’s a great idea to calculate expenses prior to and even during a trip. EasyBiz - GPS Mileage Tracker is a good solution that also offers GPS support so to never get lost. While there are some things that should be improved, the app in general has our approval.

No comparable apps are currently known to us. If you happen to know one, it would be great if you could get in touch with us.
